Montmartre Crime and Mystery Walk with Tasting

This walk takes you on the trail of criminal and bohemian 19th-century Montmartre. We start at Place Blanche, former den of the Parisian underworld, where cabarets and brothels attracted artists and thugs alike. Absinthe flowed freely and settling scores was common. Next, we head to Montmartre Cemetery, scene of fascinating funeral rituals and urban legends. We cross rue Lepic where Van Gogh lived his Parisian years, between artistic genius and descent into hell. The route also takes us through the former Maquis of Montmartre, a shantytown where misery fed all kinds of trafficking. Along the way, a tasting of local specialties lets you savor the authentic flavors of the neighborhood. We finish at Place du Tertre, which saw blood flow during the Revolution and the Commune.
